Ludger’s Offers Cakes and More
Ludger’s Bavarian Cakery has been treating Tulsans to sweet cakes and desserts for over 25 years. Known for its Bavarian Cream Cheesecake, the cakery also offers wedding cakes and traditional bakery-style cakes and desserts, including sugar-free and gluten-free options.
Ludger Schulz began Ludger’s Restaurant in 1981. He came to Tulsa in 1979 to work at the Westin Hotel in Williams Plaza after working in Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, and Canada. “I like Tulsa,” he says. “It’s a good size town.”
Today, Ludger’s Bavarian Cakery specializes in German-style cheesecakes or their signature Bavarian Cream Cheesecake, which is how Ludger originally made his name, he says.
The Bavarian Cream Cheesecake is a light blend of sponge cake and cream cheese filling that is airy but rich with flavor. Raspberry sauce is optional. Choose between vanilla, chocolate, key lime, red velvet, strawberry, chocolate chip or sugar free vanilla (pumpkin is also a seasonal flavor this time of year). Ludger’s makes cakes for all occasions and can put company logos, names and pictures on the cakes. The cakery also offers a variety of standard desserts from carrot cake to apple strudel and Italian crème cake. They make everything fresh for each order so advance notice is required.
Schulz suggests ordering birthday, anniversary or other special occasion cakes two days before the event. For weddings, order the cake six to eight months in advance.
Ludger’s is also known for longtime participation in Oktoberfest and many non-profit events around town.
Ludger’s is located at 6120 E. 32nd Pl. Call (918) 622-2537 (62-CAKES) or visit www.ludgersbavariancakery.com for more information and to order.
