DINNER OF CHAMPIONS: Jane and I were proud to attend this year’s Dinner of Champions, an annual fund-raising event of the Oklahoma Chapter of the National MS Society. We are also proud to be past honorees at the event. With us before the dinner are, in front, past honorees Brook and Jill Tarbel, and, in the back from left, Keynote Speaker Jim Stovall, Dinner Chairman Debbie Garner, and Jane and yours truly. This year’s honoree is SemGroup, Tulsa’s great company led by Tom Kivisto.
There’s lots of action going on around the region, and we are excited to be bringing some of it your way!
We are proud to sponsor the Broadway musical Mamma Mia!, which opens at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center May 8 and will run through May 13 with eight performances. Larry Payton of Celebrity Attractions continues to bring major performances to Tulsa, and we appreciate him for what he does for our region.
Mamma Mia! moves quickly with an interesting story and great Abba songs, including “Dancing Queen,? “The Winner Takes it All,? “Money, Money, Money??? and “Take a Chance on Me.???
To give you an example how great this musical is, Mamma Mia! has been named the world’s number-one show with more productions playing simultaneously around the world than any other new musical. Mamma Mia! has been performed in more than 140 cities for over 30 million people. It is estimated that over 17,000 people around the world see the musical every night.
Mamma Mia! is part of the 2006-2007 Broadway Season. For tickets call (918) 596-7111 or visit www.myticketoffice.com. Tickets for groups of 20 or more can be purchased through Celebrity Attractions at (918) 796-0220.
Talons Appreciate the Support!
The Tulsa Talons are off to a fast start under the direction of head coach Mitch Allner and quarterback Josh Blankenship. The team played very well in the first two wins over the Everett Hawks and Amarillo Dusters.
Paul Ross and I appreciate our fans, coaches and players and the media who cover our games, as well as our advertisers. We are working hard to bring Tulsa the best in indoor football, and it is taking a team effort from everyone in the region for us to get to the top of arena football.
Hometown Heroes Game
The Talons are teaming up with the Salvation Army on May 12 during the Hometown Heroes game with the Lubbock Renegades. The Talons will provide a $2 discount to Hometown Heroes and also to fans who bring a canned goods item to the game
The Hometown Heroes include veterans, active military, police officers, fire fighters, teachers, nurses, doctors, and more. Fans will be able to receive these discounts at the Carson Attractions Box Office, located at the Convention Center, Tulsa Talons Headquarters and at the game. Also taking place at the Hometown Heroes Game is our Second Little Miss Talons Cheerleader Performance. Last year over 75 girls ages six and up had the opportunity to perform at halftime of the Talons game with the Talons Cheerleaders. This year we are excited to do this event again and are providing a T-shirt and Poms to the participants. For more information, please visit our Web site at www.tulsatalons.com or call 294-1000.
Bristow Tabouleh Fest
As I mentioned in this column last month, the 3rd Annual Bristow Tabouleh Fest will be held in downtown Bristow Saturday, May 12 immediately following the Wildflower Run. The event is a celebration of Bristow’s Lebanese heritage and will include the Miss Tabouleh Pageant, a children’s talent show, craft booths, a tabouleh recipe contest, live stage entertainment and belly dancing. Come on down to Bristow and have some fun, and while you’re in town, visit us at Crown Bristow! We’ll show you some real deals!
Come and Visit!
Our Primeaux dealership continues to be number one in the region and should soon be number one in Oklahoma. The construction at I-44 and Yale Avenue is complete, and it is now an excellent thoroughfare. Crown Bristow remains a five-star dealership. Come on down to 4747 South Yale, or drive over to Crown Bristow and give us a visit. We’ll beat any deal!
