At the twelfth annual Oklahoma Renaissance Festival, dozens of professional performers from across the country will appear on 13 stages scattered throughout the Castle of Muskogee’s 60-acre forest and Renaissance village.
A wider assortment of talent cannot be found in the Sooner State. Every weekend in May (plus Thursday, May 11 for students and Monday May 28, Memorial Day), patrons will see singers and musicians, jugglers, amazing magicians, acrobats, swashbuckling sword fighters, hilarious comedy acts, balancing acts, belly dancers, Celtic bands, bagpipers, mud wrestlers, singing executioners, angelic harpists and much more. That’s 10 full days of non-stop entertainment! Visitors will also find the Castle grounds teeming with street performers: mimes, jesters, artists, wizards, knights, knaves, peasants, lords and ladies.
Many acts have strong Oklahoma ties, including the Gliss Maidens (harpists), the Brothers Dimm, Bra’d Swords,
Lord Kerridwyn, Red Griffin and The Queen’s Gambit.
At the Jousting List, visitors will see mounted, armored knights in authentic reenactment of traditional jousting or a falconer command birds of prey to perform his will in amazing displays in the air.
More than 100 artisans will be offering an array of unique hand crafted Renaissance wares. Shopping includes pottery, jewelry, knives, leather goods, paintings, sculpture and more from the artisans who make it. In some locations, such as pottery, demonstrations are available.
The 60-acre kingdom of The Castle of Muskogee is a short 45-minute drive from Tulsa on the Muskogee Turnpike and offers a wonderful escape for a family.
