McConnell-Miller Returns

Kathy McConnell-Miller will return to the Tulsa Shock in 2012 as an assistant under Head Coach Gary Kloppenburg.
McConnell-Miller was an assistant with the Shock for the final 19 games of the 2011 season. She was also the head basketball coach at the University of Tulsa from 1999 to 2005. From 2005 to 2010, she was the head basketball coach at the University of Colorado.
“Kathy has been highly successful at the college level as a head coach and will bring a lot of knowledge and experience to our coaching staff,” Kloppenburg says. “She is a coach that loves to be in the gym and put the time in working to develop and improve players. She comes highly recommended by some of the top coaches in the . She is well-respected by players and brings a strong work ethic and positive attitude to our staff.”
At the University of Tulsa, McConnell-Miller led the Golden Hurricane to two appearances (2004 and 2005) before moving to Colorado where she led the team to the 2008 post-season tournament.
“I am so pleased to be returning to the Shock organization under the strong leadership of Steve Swetoha and Gary Kloppenburg,” McConnell-Miller says. “I have been so impressed with Coach Klopp and his vision for this team and organization. I am anxious to get back on the court with the team and assist in preparing them for this upcoming season. Tulsa holds a very special place in my heart, and we are all committed to bringing a championship-caliber team to our community.”
McConnell-Miller will immediately begin scouting in preparation for this spring’s Draft before returning to Tulsa for the opening of training camp in April.
