MD80 Arrives at TASM

Tulsa Air and Space Museum () Executive Director Glenn Wright welcomes the American Airlines MD-80, which arrived at April 12. The 70,000-pound aircraft took two days to settle into its new home. Taylor Crane and Rigging erected its giant crane alongside the airport perimeter fence in preparation for the first lift.
The aircraft was gently lifted from the tarmac and floated over the airport fence to land on the ramp. After it settled on the ramp it was jacked up so that the wheels could be removed to attach the tie-down mounts to the landing gear. Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium is located at 3624 N. 74th East Ave., across from the Tulsa Zoo/Mohawk Park entrance.
