The Renaissance Tulsa Hotel and Convention Center has teamed with two of Tulsa’s brightest young stars to welcome the New Year with a tribute to Motown. Toni Estes and her singers will join Grady Nichols and his band on stage in the Grand Ballroom for a night of great music and celebration.
“The Renaissance show concept let me know immediately that we’d be home for New Years,” says Nichols, who has been playing nationally since signing with Compendia Records last May. “Toni Estes is a major talent and I look forward to performing those great Motown songs with her.”
Priority Records recording artist Toni Estes, formerly of Tulsa, made a name for herself when she was nominated for a Grammy for co-writing “It’s Not Right But It’s OK,” a song that was recorded by Whitney Houston while Toni sang backup on the recording. Her latest CD, titled “ 211,” was produced by Los Angeles production whiz Rodney Jerkins.
After signing his recording contract, Nichols toured the country in support of his first two single releases “All Right” and “Tuesday Morning” from his latest CD titled “Sophistication” that was produced by jazz great Jeff Lorber. The road took him to prestigious events such as The Newport Beach Jazz Festival, The All Star Jazz Bash in Capistrano, Jazz in the Woods in Kansas City, and as an opening act for Jay Leno.
Renaissance Assistant General Manager of Food and Beverage Operations Jon Patterson has planned a night to remember with decorations that will transform the Grand Ballroom into a swank night club atmosphere with lit tables and raised, balcony-style seating. The Ballroom Dinner will feature Flat Iron Steak, Barbecue Shrimp, Renaissance salad, and Caramel Pecan Cheesecake prepared by Chef Bill Doyle.
