Mullens and Shakur Recalled from Tulsa 66ers


OKLAHOMA , April 14, 2010 – Oklahoma City Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti announced today that the team has recalled Byron Mullens and Mustafa Shakur from the Tulsa 66ers of the Development League.

Mullens and Shakur are being recalled after helping lead the 66ers past the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the first round of the Development League playoffs.

During the 2-1 series win over the Skyforce, Mullens averaged 14.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.0 block in 25.7 minutes per game. Mullens has appeared in 12 games for the Thunder this year and averaged 1.2 points and 0.8 rebounds in 4.4 minutes per contest.

Shakur, who was signed by the Thunder on March 31st, averaged 20.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists in the recent 66ers three-game playoff series win. Shakur is yet to appear in a game for the Thunder this season.

Both players will be available tonight for Oklahoma City’s regular season finale versus the Memphis Grizzlies at the Ford Center (7:00pm).

The 66ers will return to action Friday April, 16 when they play host to the Iowa Energy at the Tulsa Convention Center for the Semi-Finals of the D-League playoffs.

The Tulsa 66ers, who were purchased by the Professional Basketball Club on July 31, 2008, are the minor league affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder are one of four teams in the (Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs) who have an ownership agreement with their minor league affiliate.
