On March 10, 2009 Officer Jack Hester of the Tulsa Police Department was recognized by Chief Ron Palmer for his actions on June 26, 2008. This award was presented on behalf of StopTech which involved a high-speed pursuit with Brandon
Brixey.
Brixey stole a car from the driver and left with three children in the back seat. An Amber Alert was activated and the vehicle was located and a pursuit ensued. Speeds reached up
to 90 mph before Officer Jack Hester utilized his issued Tire Deflation Devices at 5100 South Memorial Avenue. His actions forced the suspect to stop and flee on foot, leaving the children in the vehicle.
Brixey was eventually captured and arrested for Kidnapping, Robbery, Eluding and several other felony crimes.
There are over 200,000 Stop Stick Devices across the world and Tulsa Police Officer Jack Hester will be awarded with the 2008 Hit of the Year.
