Spring has arrived and it is time again to start looking forward to golf outings! What better way to enjoy spring than to participate in the 10th annual Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College “Puddin’ Haney” Golf Classic.
In 2002, J.V. “Puddin’” Haney, a 1954 alumnus of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, got a group of alumni together to play golf and to raise money for scholarships. Today, has raised over $30,000 for scholarships.
The “Puddin’” Classic is changing the lives of students at for a lifetime. Haney is once again serving as the events chairman.
This year, the classic is reaching out to participants to create a partnership between their high school and A&M College. Organizers are asking potential participants to put together a four-person team to represent their school in the golf classic.
Since spring can be a busy time for coaches and schools, participating schools can be represented by parents of students, booster club members, or individuals in the community who have a desire to help their school.
In addition to a great round of golf at MeadowBrook Country Club, a wonderful lunch and exciting door prizes, each team will also claim a $1,000 scholarship for their school. This scholarship can be awarded to a student of the participating team’s choice who will be attending A&M College in the fall of 2012. If needed, this scholarship could be split between two students at $500 each.
As an additional bonus, since the Oklahoma spring can be less than predictable, “Rain Check” vouchers will be awarded to each player in the event of a cancellation due to the weather.
Thanks to MeadowBrook Country Club, the voucher will guarantee a round of golf at a future time convenient for each player.
The event is scheduled for April 16 at the MeadowBrook Country Club in Tulsa. Registration will begin at 11 a.m., lunch is at noon and the Shotgun start gets underway promptly at 1 p.m.
The faculty and administration at appreciate the support and look forward to having students from area schools on the campus next fall.
