Nice Kona Ice

State House Representative Lonnie Sims (a previous Jenks City Councilor and Mayor) organized this as a thank you to Jenks employees for the efforts they put forth during the May storms and flooding.  Many departments like Jenks Public Works, Jenks Police and Jenks Fire Department worked grueling hours to keep roads open, clean up damage from storms and water, and address numerous problems related to the weather.  Oklahoma Aquarium employees spent hours placing sandbags around the facility to keep floodwater out of the building and were dedicated to remaining open to the public.
When Sims reached out to Anne Sipes, owner of Kona Ice of Green Country, to help facilitate this thank you gift, she was also moved by the efforts of Jenks staff.  She decided to offer this gift at no charge to anyone – just as a thank you from her business to the City of Jenks employees.  Sipes and Sims both attended the Kona Ice giveaway.
