Oilers have Chance To Clinch Playoff Berth
On Verge: The Tulsa Oilers (31-24-2, 64 Points 3rd Place Berry Conference) have three games this week, needing just one win to earn their first playoff berth in six years. The Oilers host the Wichita Thunder Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. then head west for games at Rapid City Friday and Colorado Saturday with both of those games starting at 8:05 p.m. Central time. All three games this week begin at 7:05 p.m. and can be accessed via the internet at www.tulsaoilers.com and TV.
A Split: The Oilers won two games and lost two games last week, beating Rapid City, 4-2; losing to Dayton 8-2; losing to Odessa 7-5; and beating Odessa 7-6.
One To Go.: The Oilers magic number to clinch a spot in the Ray Miron President Cup playoffs is now one. Any combination of Oiler wins and Laredo losses adding up to one will assure the Oilers of their first playoff appearance since 2005.
Streaks: Center Jack Combs now has points in eight straight games. He has eight goals and seven assists in that stretch. He leads the Oilers in goals with 35 goals this year. Braden Walls also had points in all four games last week with four goals and one assist. He had his goals in the last three games of the week.
Milestone: Marty Standish picked up a goal and assist against Rapid City on Tuesday, with the goal being the 500th point of his career.
