Oilers’ Magic Number At One
With the Tulsa Oilers holding the edge in the first tie breaker over the Laredo Bucks, the Oilers magic number to clinch their first playoff berth since 2005. Any Oilers victory or any Laredo loss in regulation time (or two overtime/shootout losses) will assure the Oilers of the playoff spot. Each team has nine games left to play in the regular season.
The Oilers can earn their playoff berth Tuesday night when they host the Wichita Thunder at 7:05 at the Center. Laredo hosts Arizona Tuesday night.
The Oilers will clinch the playoff spot if:
• The Oilers win
• Laredo loses to Arizona in regulation time
• The Oilers lose in overtime/shootout Laredo loses to Arizona in overtime/shootout
Those scenarios will stay in place until such time as the Oilers clinch a playoff spot, or
the regular season ends (March 27th) . The Oilers game Tuesday night will be the team’s last home game until Saturday March 26th.
