OK Mozart Festival Hosts Valentine Dinner-Dance Gala

When they strike up the music for OK Mozart’s gala Valentine Party at Bartlesville Community Center on Friday, February 14, from 7 to 10 p.m., party-goers will be in for one sweetheart of a party. Plans call for an elegant dinner followed by dancing to the big-band sounds of the Tulsa Jazz Orchestra along with some very special surprises.

The first heartthrob of the evening will feature an innovative game of chance, a Precious Gem Treasure Hunt where loose stones provided by McCoy’s Jewelers will be frozen in opaque ice cubes and sold. In this event everyone is a winner since each purchaser will take home a treasure, some more valuable than others. One stone among them will be a stunning diamond.

Another portion of the event that’s guaranteed to make hearts go pitty-pat is the five romantic live auction items collected by the Special Events Committee chaired by Linda Kay Jones. These range from an 18-KT white gold gemstone and diamond ring containing 177 bead-set diamonds surrounding a triangle shaped cut corner natural green quartz weighing approximately seven carats, to an original reverse glass painting created live at the Valentine Party by local artist Jan Brieschke.

Other live auction items include a Canebreak Spa Resort package at Fort Gibson Lake, a men’s goodie package of highly prized electronics, and a pair of black diamond earrings.

The grand finale of surprises will be a beautiful, frameable print of this year’s OK Mozart Festival artwork titled ‘Blue Danube’ given by noted local artist, Lyle Don Carlos, to each couple attending.

Dinner will be a gourmet delight beginning with a garden veggie pasta salad or mixed green salad with raspberry vinaigrette dressing; garlic parmesan chicken on a bed of Brussels sprouts, pork chops, roasted balsamic potatoes, haricorts verts (green beans) dressed with warm bacon vinaigrette, and all of it topped off with strawberry lemonade layer cake.

Red and white wine will be served each table, with tables having their choice of wine or champagne. A cash bar will also be available.

Tickets, sold online at www.okmozart.com or by calling the Box Office at (918) 336-9900, are priced at $50 per person, $500 for a table for eight, or $750 for a table for 10. A portion of the night’s proceeds will go to the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra.
