OK Mozart to Present Parker Millsap Trio

Performing for the OKM Original Artist Series on November 24 will be The Parker Millsap Trio of Parker Millsap, Michael Rose and Daniel Foulks.

For more than two years, the OK Mozart Festival has extended its reach beyond the confines of the June festival to present a year around series of concerts featuring rising talent from Oklahoma and throughout the country.

The series continues this month as OK Mozart and the Original Artist Agency team up to present The Parker Millsap Trio and Jacob Tovar at Frank & Lola’s Restaurant, 200 SE 2nd Street, at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24. Tickets for this concert are $25 and include complimentary beer and wine as well as the wide assortment of heavy appetizers that have made these rare Sunday concerts at Frank & Lola’s an appetizing ticket.

“We’re excited to begin this concert series with Parker and Jacob at Frank & Lola’s,” said Dr. Randy Thompson, OK Mozart Executive Director. “Great music from these young men accompanied by the fantastic fare Adam Gilbert is known for will make this another special event!”

With a voice once described as “velvet laid over gravel,” Millsap growls through tunes with an honest Midwestern perspective painting pictures in song of windblown, hardscrabble characters filled with longing, blue-collar values and integrity.

Bassist Michael Rose and fiddle player Daniel Foulks augment Millsap’s original songs to create a unique Americana sound that has recently drawn attention from some of the genre’s influential tastemakers, including Thirty Tigers, the Nashville-based company whose marketing prowess helped secure John Fullbright’s Grammy nomination. Thirty Tigers will promote and distribute Millsap’s new album in early 2014.

Opening the November 24 performance is Jacob Tovar. Tovar plays legitimate honky-tonk tunes and originals of the same style. Comparisons to Bob Wills and George Jones seem to echo throughout every room this Tulsa musician plays.
