OKC Memorial Marathon launches iPhone app

OKLAHOMA CITYOklahoma City Memorial Marathon organizers have announced a new iPhone application that will provide participants and fans with an interactive map of the course, race information and BIB number tracking.
Oklahoma-City based Phase 2 Interactive, a leading technology company that creates iPhone apps and complex custom software, developed the application free of cost and is available for download at Apple’s App Store.
“Phase 2 is proud to partner with the OKC Memorial on this exciting project,” said Heath Clinton, president and chief operating officer of Phase 2 Interactive. “As one of the leading marathons in the country, it’s only fitting that they have the best technology available for their participants.”
Interactive Map – Find water spots, mile makers, first aid stations, start and finish locations using the map and a GPS-enabled device.
Race Information – Details each of the races and information about the Expo and pre-race gatherings.
BIB Tracking – Real time BIB number tracking will allow users to track a runner during the race so they can be there to support them and know their times at the splits for their race.
“We are excited to offer this new iPhone app to our runners and fans,” said Thomas Hill, president of the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. “This app provides instant information at your fingertips whether you’re a runner or a fan along the course looking to cheer on a friend or family member.”
About the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon
The tenth anniversary of the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is scheduled for April 25, 2010. The event includes aMarathon, Wheelchair Marathon, Half Marathon, 5-person Relay, a Kids
Marathon and the 5K Memorial Walk. In addition, there will be a Health & Fitness Expo, a prerace Pasta Party held at the Oklahoma City National Memorial and a Sunrise Prayer Service the morning of the race. More than 20,000 individuals are expected to participate this year.
