Oklahoma Red Cross Launches Blood Drive

OWASSO, Okla. – Honor dad this June by giving the gift of life at an American Red Cross donation center or blood drive. By spending around an hour or less donating a unit of blood, you can not only say “thanks” for your gift of life but potentially help give new life to three other people, perhaps someone else’s father.

Locally, donations can be made at the Walmart Supercenter blood drive on Tuesday, June 1 from 10 am to 2 pm at Red Cross Bus, 12101 East 96th Street North Please call 1-800–CROSS (733-2767) to schedule an appointment.

By giving blood, a donor can share the gift most cherished by a child – their father’s time. Since every two seconds someone in this country needs blood, the Red Cross encourages individuals to know their blood type and those of their family members and to donate on a regular basis.

“One of the most precious things any of us have with our father is time,” said Steve Nagle, , Southwest Region. And by spending less than an hour of one’s time we can potentially add years to the lives of three people, giving them extra time with their loved ones.”

A unit of blood might help someone recovering from an accident, facing periodic treatments for leukemia or other forms of cancer, sickle cell disease or during an upcoming surgery.

How to Donate Blood:
Simply call 1–CROSS (733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment today. All blood types are needed to ensure the Red Cross maintains an adequate blood supply.
