Oklahoma State’s Anderson Garners All-America Honors


Stillwater, Okla. — James Anderson, a junior on the Oklahoma State men’s basketball team, has been named a first-team All-American by Sporting News, it was announced today. He becomes the first Cowboy player named a first-team All-American by Sporting News since 1951 when Gale McArthur was honored.

Anderson, who leads the Big 12 Conference and ranks third nationally in scoring at 22.9 points per game, is also a unanimous selection for Big 12 Player of the Year. He is joined on the first team by Scottie Reynolds of Villanova, Ohio State’s Evan Turner, Kentucky’s John Wall and Greivis Vasquez of Maryland.

On Monday, Anderson was named a first-team All-American by Yahoo!Sports, a national on-line publication. He was joined on the first team by Reynolds, Turner, Wall and Kentucky’s DeMarcus Cousins.

Anderson and the Cowboys will play bedlam-rival Oklahoma on Wednesday, March 10, in the first round of the 2010 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship. Tipoff from the Sprint Center will be 6 p.m.
