Oklahoma Aquarium: 2-For-1 Tuesdays, Turtles and Mardi Gras!

The Oklahoma Aquarium is splashing into the New Year with two great reasons to visit. We’re extending 2-For-1 Tuesdays and Turtle Tours through January and February.

Every Tuesday throughout those months, the Oklahoma Aquarium is offering one free admission with each paid admission. Plus, see our two majestic Loggerhead Sea Turtles, not yet on display. Go behind the scenes for just a $2 suggested donation. The Oklahoma Aquarium is also open late, till 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, to make this experience more convenient now that kids are back in school.

The two Loggerhead Sea Turtles were donated to the Oklahoma Aquarium in 2004 by the Virginia Marine Science Center. They are in a holding facility while funds are being raised to construct a permanent home for the gentle giants. Once completed, the addition to the Oklahoma Aquarium will allow guests to see and appreciate the once endangered species every visit. These two male turtles could not be released into the wild because they’ve been in captivity since hatching. They’re 12 years old now, but sea turtles can live to 75 or even longer.

And mark your calendars for the Mardi Gras Gala at the Oklahoma Aquarium, February 10th from 7:00 pm to midnight. It’s an elaborate celebration of the New Orleans spirit, complete with a recreation of Bourbon Street, authentic cuisine, live music, a casino and a premier silent auction. All funds raised will benefit Aquarium expansion projects such as a home for the sea turtles. Tickets are $150 per couple. Table sponsorships are available beginning at $1,500 by contacting Teri Bowers, 528-1505.
