Olukemi Garners Weekly Award
Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State sophomore Jéan-Paul Olukemi was named the Big 12 Conference’s Rookie of the Week, it was announced today, for the period ending Jan. 9 in voting by a panel of media covering the league. It is the second weekly award for a Cowboy player this season.
Olukemi helped guide to a pair of victories last week with 19 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He came off the bench in both contests as the Pokes recorded wins over (79-63) and 17th-ranked Kansas State (76-62). He scored 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting versus before posting a career-high 22 points on 7-of-9 shooting in the league opener against the Wildcats.
He also had a career-high 11 rebounds against Kansas State, recording his first-career double-double. In two games, he shot 73.7 percent from the floor, including 2-of-3 from beyond the three-point arc. Olukemi is currently third on the team with his 10.9 points per game and has scored in double figures in six-straight contests.
Oklahoma State (13-2 overall, 1-0 Big 12) will travel to College Station, Texas, for a game Wednesday night against the No. 16 Texas A&M Aggies (14-1, 1-0) tipoff is set for 7 pm and the game will be televised on the Big 12 Network.
