Reno, NV— ORU standout Jack Whitt placed first at the annual Pole Vault Summit this weekend with a 18′ 1/2″, becoming only the second collegiate athlete to win the competition.
Hosted by UCS (a manufacturer of track and field and gymnastic products), the National Pole Vault Summit is a grassroots developmental clinic established to promote safety and the development of pole vaulting.
Whit participated in the men’s elite category on January 28, and ranked first among a field of 10 competitors.
Also competing in the event, Dustin Gehrke posted a 4.85m for sixth place in the college men’s competition. Not far behind, Joel Miller ranked 10th with a 4.45.
On the women’s side, Lauren McFarland nabbed second in the college women’s division with a 3.65m.
The event was not a regular competition and will not count toward NCAA stats or results.
Both the men and women return to competition on February 4th and 5th at the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska.
