|
The Golden Eagles led from stem to stern, jumping ahead by 11 on a Jordan Pyle layup with 12:54 showing in the first half, and eventually taking a decisive 18 point (43-25) lead into intermission.
ORU increased the advantage to as many as 25 (54-29) early in the second stanza, before the guest Riverhawks made things interesting with a quick 11-2 burst that was highlighted by three consecutive threes which cut the margin to single digits (58-50) with 10 minutes remaining.
That would be as close as Northeastern would get however, as an ORU timeout was followed by a flurry of Golden Eagle buckets that eventually ran the margin back up to a comfortable 24 points with under five minutes to go.
ORU forced 34 Northeastern turnovers, but found themselves on the wrong end of a 37-30 rebounding disparity.
Jordan Pyle tacked on 13 points, eight boards and four steals for the Golden Eagles, whileSavanna Buck connected on 3-4 from beyond the arc to add 10 points.
Northeastern’s Jasmine Webb paced the guest attack, shooting 9-11 on the contest and finishing the evening with a solid 19 point, 15 rebound effort.
With the victory, ORU moves to 8-7 overall and a stellar 5-2 in the friendly confines of the Mabee Center. Northeastern drops to 9-1 on the season.
