OSU Softball Falls to Tulsa


STILLWATER, Okla. ( Athletics ) — The No. 20 Oklahoma State softball team lost against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane by a score of 6-2 at Cowgirl Stadium on Tuesday evening. This was the Cowgirls first loss against an unranked opponent and they are now 15-6 on the season.

Tulsa (12-9) scored first with two runs in the first inning as the first two batters reached base with hits. Caitlin Everett scored on a sacrifice fly and Lauren Lindsay scored on a hit from Christian Timmons. The Cowgirls battled back in the second and scored a run off a single up the middle by Megan Castle. Redshirt freshman Tamara Brown led the inning off with a double and scored on Castle’s hit.

Senior Anna Whiddon started in the circle for and was able to hold Tulsa scoreless in the second, third and fourth innings. However in the fifth, Lindsay hit a solo home run to make the score 3-1. The Golden Hurricane added another run in the sixth as Skylar Swanson walked and eventually scored on a single by Lauren Menke.

Oklahoma State was able to score one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning when freshman Amy Graham hit her first home run of the season.

Junior Sarah Odom relieved Whiddon in the sixth inning and finished the game for Oklahoma State. She threw 1.2 innings and allowed one hit for two unearned runs. However Whiddon picked up the loss after she threw 5.1 innings, gave up six hits for three earned runs, walked three and struck out five. She is now 11-3 on the season.

Jordan Kinard threw the complete game for Tulsa and improves to 4-2. She allowed eight hits for two earned runs, srtuck out three and walked one.
