OSUIT and Power Plants Hosting “Power Up Road Shows” for Prospective College Students

OKMULGEE, Okla. –Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology took the college experience on the road with the first ever “OSUIT Power Up Road Show” at the Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) power plant in Hugo, OK on Thursday, May 20.

The event allowed prospective college students to meet with industry representatives from WFEC to gain an understanding of potential careers in the power plant industry as well as tour the plant to gain a better understanding of what the work environment is really like. Those who attended the event were also able to meet with representatives from OSUIT to learn more about admissions and financial aid as it relates to the programs that feed into careers such as power plant technology.

Steven Rubert, OSUIT’s director of special events and services said, “It is one thing when we tell a prospective student about the amazing job opportunities that await them after graduating with a degree from OSU Institute of Technology, but it just resonates so well when it is the potential employers of these students who are touting what we do and the lucrative, stable careers that they can attain after graduation.”

OSUIT will host two other power plant open house opportunities in the coming weeks:

Green Country LLC in Jenks on Friday, June 4 with sessions at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
