OU’s Ash Remains on The Bowerman List
NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma hurdler Ronnie Ash remained on the watch list for The 2010 Bowerman award, track and field’s equivalent of the Heisman Trophy, Wednesday The Bowerman watch list committee announced. Ash, the defending NCAA 110-meter hurdles champion, remains undefeated on the season heading into the final week of regular season action. Ash is also the winner of the last two NCAA 60-meter hurdles titles.
Ash currently ranks second nationally in the 110-meter hurdles with a wind-aided time of 13.50 while holding the nation’s best wind-legal mark of 13.54, a time that broke a 34-year old Oklahoma record at last week’s Texas Invite.
Ash is one of only two Big 12 athletes on the current 10-man watch list for the award. This group of 10 on The Bowerman watch list is responsible for two world-leading marks, three American-leading marks, and ten collegiate-leading marks so far this outdoor season.
The Bowerman watch list committee will release its next update on Wednesday, May 19, following the collegiate regular season. The three men and three women finalists will be named on July 13. Award winners will be announced at the USTFCCCA Convention, held December 13-16 in San Antonio, Texas.
