Owasso Community Resources Receives Gift
GATEWAY VOLUNTEERS: Gateway Mortgage Group employees volunteered recently at the Owasso Community Resources food pantry. The Gateway Mortgage Group donated two refrigerators to Owasso Community Resources to double the organization’s storage capacity for deli meat, fresh produce and dairy items.

School is out for the summer, but hunger never takes a break. More than 30 percent of Owasso’s students qualify for free and reduced lunches so there is a significant need to feed families when classes aren’t in session.
Gateway Mortgage Group donated two refrigerators to Owasso Community Resources to help ensure no one misses a meal. Each refrigerator holds up to 250 pounds of deli meats, fresh produce and dairy items. The new equipment more than doubles the storage capacity of perishable items.
“Giving back to the community is part of Gateway’s culture,” said Hobie Higgins, senior vice president of Gateway Mortgage Group. “We recognize hunger’s negative impact on people, and we are passionate about building thriving communities.”
Owasso Community Resources () exists to help families in Owasso and surrounding areas. The organization currently provides groceries to 200 households a month, which equates to more than 825 people.
“OCR is truly grateful for the donation,” said Randy Cowling, executive director of Owasso Community Resources. “We know the donation will make a significant difference in keeping people from going hungry.”
Gateway Mortgage Group announced their “Gateway Gives Back” program earlier this year. The company pledged to reinvest $275 million in communities throughout the state of Oklahoma within the next five years. The program will focus on providing mortgage financing in low- to moderate-income communities while also partnering with nonprofits that support community development and strengthen families.
