OWP Looking for Submissions
Oklahoma is the theme of the Oklahoma Centennial Writing Contest, celebrating writing about Oklahoma by state teachers and students. The contest is sponsored by the Oklahoma Writing Project at the University of Oklahoma.
Students pre-K through 12th grade and their teachers are invited to participate. Genres include poetry, personal narrative, essay, flash fiction and short story. Suggested topics are Oklahoma landscape, weather, places, events, people, history, culture, government, sports, recreation and education.
Each teacher may submit 15 student entries and two personal entries. The deadline is Jan. 25, 2008. Dr. Jennifer Kidney, director of Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma and Oklahoma Connections and the Oklahoma Humanities Council will be the judge.
