Pair of Sooners to Run at USA Cross Country Championships
NORMAN, Okla. — Two athletes from the University of Oklahoma’s Cross Country program will run in Saturday’s Cross Country Championships in San Diego, Calif. Daniel Nicolls and Ryan Poland, both freshmen, will represent the OU team as they compete in the junior division of the competition. The two will kick off the 8,000-meter race at 12:30 p.m. .
The 2011 Cross Country Championships also serve as the trials race to select the Team squad that will compete at the 2011 World Cross Country Championships, to be held in Punta Umbria, Spain on March 20, 2011 and the North America, Central American, & Caribbean (NACAC) Cross Country Championships, which will be conducted in Tobago on February 19, 2011.
Both Nicolls and Poland redshirted during the 2010 cross country season and will begin the 2011 cross country season as redshirt-freshmen.
