Patriot Cup to Feature Big PGA & Champion’s Names

Young guns like Rickie Fowler and Gary Woodland will be joined by golfing legends such as Tom Lehman, Corey Pavin and Craig Stadler at the 2nd annual Patriot Cup benefiting the Folds of Honor Foundation to be held on May 29-30 at The Patriot Golf Club in Owasso. The Tour players, as well as celebrities, will be playing on Monday beginning at 9 a.m.
“We are pleased to once again have one of the strongest pro-am fields in the country. These guys really understand the importance of helping the families of our heroes in uniform,” says Major Dan Rooney, former F-16 fighter pilot and founder of Folds of Honor Foundation. “The Patriot Cup is a celebration of God, country and the game. We are pleased to be able to allow golf fans and military supporters to attend this year’s event to show their support.”
Others in the Memorial Day field include country music star Vince Gill, Golf Channel personality Rich Lerner and former of America President Brian Whitcomb.
The Patriot Cup benefits Owasso-based Folds of Honor, which was founded by Rooney in 2007 to provide post-secondary scholarships to the spouses and dependents of soldiers killed or disabled while defending our great nation. To date, Folds of Honor provided more than 1,600 scholarships to deserving recipients around the country.
On Sunday, May 29, a field of 44 military golfers will be competing with the top 30 advancing to Monday to play for the Patriot Cup. On Monday, those top 30 military golfers will each be paired with a player, Champion’s player or celebrity with one two-person team emerging as the winner of the Patriot Cup.
For the first time, the public can purchase tickets to attend Monday’s round at $50 each, with kids ages 12 and under getting in free. Parking is available at no additional cost at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino or Stone Canyon Elementary with complimentary transportation to and from the course. Food and beverage vendors will be located at the course. Tickets can be purchased through The Joint ticket office at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
