A patron party was recently held for the University School’s 25th Anniversary, hosted by Honorary Chairs Mayor Kathy Taylor and husband Bill Lobeck. Their daughter Elisabeth Frame, a University School alumna, was also an Honorary Chair of the event.
The University School at the University of Tulsa celebrated its 25th anniversary with a gala Sept. 28 at the Jazz Hall of Fame’s new home in the Union Depot in downtown Tulsa.
“Celebrate the Past and Secure the Future” was the theme of the school’s gala event. The event featured a silent auction of jazz artwork by University School students, dinner and live jazz directed by Master of Ceremonies Chuck Cissel.
Gala directors included Ann Allison, Drew Downing, Cathy McClanahan, Peter D’Alessandro, Juli Couch-Johnstone, Dr. George and Kathryn Lyons, Meredith and James Weger, Margaret and Steven Kobos, Nancy Siegel and Dan Holeman.
The University School is devoted to educating gifted and talented children and is the only school of its kind in Oklahoma serving the needs of gifted children from pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade. It serves as a national model in pre-college education for students of high motivation and academic potential.
Proceeds from the gala will go toward an endowment used solely to provide scholarships, so that gifted children have the opportunity to reap the rewards of attending University School, regardless of their financial situation.
University School is a private school in Tulsa on the University of Tulsa campus serving academically talented children ages three through eighth grade.
