With a lifelong love of animals, Sara and David Wilson decided to establish Pet Stop in Owasso during June of 1996. One of the first in the area, the store has become a trusted resource for all things pets.

Owasso has been a wonderful location for the business. Having moved to Sapulpa, the return brought with it the opportunity to reconnect to the community that Sara loved so much as a child. “Owasso is a fast growing city with good demographics. My family enjoys living here and we really like the people that we meet.”

In July of 2009, Pet Stop expanded to a new location in Broken Arrow. “We have received a lot of compliments. When the pet store previously occupying the building closed, nearby residents were happy to see us come in.”

Pet Stop offers an array of premium items and brands with the health of pets in mind. Both holistic and grain-free foods are always carried in the store. “We want to offer products that are the healthiest available and have a partnership in caring for pets in the community.”

There are a number of medical supplies that are also available for customers. Meetings are constantly held to inform everyone involved in the business about new products that might aid in the minor health issues of pets.

With so many unique characteristics, one of the most important to Sara is the friendliness, openness and helpfulness of Pet Stop. “This is a fun business and we want everyone to have an enjoyable experience with their pets while here.”

The decision to bring a pet into the family should be carefully considered. “We like to guide customers through that decision and help them research the pet and its needs.” If a decision is made, Pet Stop provides a great resource for the preparation of caring for a pet.

Whether it is chinchillas, birds, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, dogs, cats or fish the store offers many options for a family to choose from. Most of the pets are acquired from local, responsible breeders. A lot of research is done before the breeders are chosen.

Purebreds and designer breed puppies are available at Pet Stop. Sara is very excited about a litter of boxers that will be available in a few days.

Almost all of the cats at the store are rescued from within the community. “We get kittens from individuals that have had an accidental litter. Taking in the litter to find homes prevents them from going to a shelter.” The requirement is simply having the mother cat spayed to prevent another surprise litter.

Owning the store has created many very special memories for Sara. “My favorite memories are made up of the people and pets that I have gotten to know. After many years, a couple of people have returned to thank me for pets that had since passed away.”

There will be a 12 days of Christmas sale beginning Dec. 13. The promotion will continue through the end of the year. No interest layaway is available.
