Oklahoma Aquarium Sea Turtle Exhibit Nears Completion
The final phase of the Oklahoma Aquarium’s Sea Turtle Island, presented by The Oxley Foundation, is well underway, with the exhibit expected to open in March.
The 65,000-gallon tank will feature two 300-pound loggerhead sea turtles, reef sharks and tropical fish.

Tulsa to Receive Gem with OKPOP Museum
Oklahoma Historical Society officials have announced the organization will construct the Oklahoma Museum of Popular Culture (OKPOP) at 422 N. Main St. in Tulsa, across the street from the historic Cain’s Ballroom, home of Bob Wills. Tulsan David Sharp and Interak Corporation donated the quarter block of land for the OKPOP site, estimated to be valued at $1 million.
B.A.’s Rose District Begins Holiday Events
The Rose District Ice Rink opened in downtown Broken Arrow’s Rose District Pavilion, 418 S. Main St., on Dec. 1. The rink will be open throughout the holiday season, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Days. The last day of operation will be Sunday, Jan. 8.
Ted & Shiela Haynes to Co-Chair OSU Fundraiser
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma President Ted Haynes and his wife, Shiela, have been selected as co-chairs; senior U.S. District Judge Terence Kern and his wife, Jeanette, have been named honorary co-chairs for “A Stately Affair in Tulsa,” the biennial black-tie gala fundraiser for Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences and -Tulsa.
Paula Wood a Nationally-Known Designer
For Tulsan Paula Wood, getting back to work means ditching her alarm clock and high heels.
After retiring from Tulsa Public Schools as the director of School and Community Relations last spring, it was hardly the time to slow down. In fact, it was actually her cue to focus once again on her design business, which she’s maintained all along, but now, she can devote more time to it. And today, it shows no signs of slowing down.
Syncretic Showcases Tulsa Artist Fellowship
On Friday, Dec. 2, 108 Contemporary in the Brady Arts District premiered Syncretic, an exhibit showcasing the works of the inaugural class of recipients of the Tulsa Artist Fellowship (). Established in 2015 by the George Kaiser Family Foundation, was created to retain and recruit artists from across the U.S. Fellows receive a stipend, housing and studio space to allow them to work on their craft. The initial group of 12 visual artists moved to Tulsa in 2016. This exhibit is a celebration of the fellowship’s first year.

Warren Theatre to Host Annual Holiday Series with Free Tickets
The Broken Arrow Warren Theatre will host its second annual Holiday Series in Broken Arrow starting Saturday Dec. 3. Tickets will be free for the public, and there will be a limited number available. Tickets may be picked up starting the Tuesday before each show in person at the box office. All seating will be reserved. A kid’s combo pack will be available for purchase at the concession stand.
Tulsa Opera Season Promises to Please Audiences
Tulsa Opera’s 69th season kicked off Oct. 21 and 23 with a vibrant presentation of Georges Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers, to be followed by three additional productions to complete the 2016-17 season, productions that were chosen specifically to meet the wishes of the local opera audience, says Tulsa Opera General Director and Greg Weber.

Expanded Events Planned for Will Rogers Days
Will Rogers Memorial Museum opened Nov. 4, 1938, three years after the death of the man who remains Oklahoma’s most recognizable native. On that day, thousands of people dotted the hillside of the native limestone Memorial, streets were teeming with horses and floats for a giant parade, and there was gridlock on the highway between Tulsa and Claremore.
Philbrook Museum, Downtown Open Exhibitions
In October, Philbrook Museum of Art opened Native Fashion Now, a critically acclaimed exhibition from the Peabody Essex Museum () in Salem, Massachusetts.
