Five Civilized Tribes Hold Quarterly Meeting
The Muscogee (Creek) Nation hosted several Native American tribes for a quarterly meeting of the Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes Jan. 8-9 at the Renaissance Hotel & Convention Center with a record attendance of 529 attendees.
The Inter-Tribal Council formed as a result of various meetings held in 1949 between various leaders and representatives of the Five Civilized Tribes. It will celebrate 65 years in February.

Local Groups Remember 9/11
On Sept. 11, the Wealaka Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution () held its annual Patriot Day at Washington Irving Park. The John Plumb Chapter of Colonial Dames also provided support for the event and purchased a contemplation bench, which has been placed on the lawn west of the 9-11 Memorial in Washington Irving Park.

Sigma Chi Tulsa Celebrates Milestone
In July, 300 Sigma Chi Fraternity alumni from across the country gathered for the 100 Years of Brotherhood anniversary celebration, the Tulsa alumni association’s celebration of 100 years of uninterrupted weekly meetings. “Our association is the only one of 150 alumni groups nationally to celebrate 100 years of uninterrupted weekly meetings,” says Aaron Massey, president of Sigma Chi Tulsa Alumni Association.

To My Fellow Tulsans,
It has been my great pleasure to reside in the Blair Mansion at 2800 S. Boston Ave. in the great city of Tulsa. The property on which the house resides will soon become part of A Gathering Place for Tulsa, a planned 66.5-acre park along Riverside Drive. As many of you know, the house was never part of the park design. Recognizing that, I took responsibility for the future of the home.

Jenks Arts District Introduces Lectures
Making art more accessible. That is the concept behind the creation of the Third Thursday Lecture Series. The series is the first endeavor by the arts council, the governing body for downtown Jenks’ arts district, which encompasses Main Street.
The idea for the district began early last year as a way to expand artistic servings in Jenks, says Jenks Communications Director Nick DeMoss.
Dillon International Holds Lunar New Year Event
Dillon International will ring in the Year of the Horse at its 19th-annual Lunar New Year benefit dinner.
