Tulsa Tough Contributes to Million Miles

Tulsa Million Miles, an initiative of Mayor Kathy Taylor’s Fitness Challenge, received a huge boost when Tulsa Tough’s Ride and Race event coordinator logged participants’ miles from their May event on the Web site. A total of 63,323.1 miles were added to TulsaMillionMiles.com, increasing the mileage to 396,209 and edging the health and fitness initiative closer to the halfway mark of one million miles.

KUDOS OF THE MONTH: TU Tennis Star Arnau Brugues

University of Tulsa tennis star Arnau Brugues was ranked No. 1 in the country five times and spent a total of 11 weeks in the top spot this season. The Barcelona, Spain, native finished the season with a 44-4 record, including 29 wins against nationally ranked opponents. He advanced to the quarterfinals of the Men’s Singles Championships recently for the second time in his career. Brugues was ranked No. 2 in the final national men’s singles poll released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. It is the highest final ranking in Brugues’ career and of any player in Tulsa history. Brugues completed the 2005 and 2007 seasons ranked No. 7 in the nation.

Management is busy out in the community doing social projects and lobbying for the downtown baseball stadium, which will open next April.
