Smith Gets C-USA Honor

University of Tulsa senior quarterback Paul Smith was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week after the BYU game.

Smith, from Owasso, led Tulsa to a 55-47 victory over BYU by completing 21-of-35 passes for a career-best 454 yards and a career-high five touchdowns.

After throwing an interception on Tulsa’s third possession, Smith threw four consecutive TDs, covering 43, 17, 75 and 18 yards. By halftime, Smith had completed 12 passes for 302 yards and four TDs. In just the first half alone, he was just six yards shy of his career-high passing game.

Union High School graduate Nathan Peterson enters his senior season as one of the top-ranked OSU Cowboys. The 6-2, 240 pound defensive end showed complete recovery from 2004 injury problems with a standout junior season. He will be in line for all-conference honors after earning honorable mention all-Big 12 accolades as a junior from the Big 12 coaches and Associated Press. Peterson is already number 10 all-time at OSU with 14.5 career sacks.
