Volunteers Sought for NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships
Volunteer openings remain for the Division I Women’s Golf Championships at the Tulsa Country Club this May. The 72-hole tournament takes place May 20-23, but practices rounds are scheduled for Sunday and Monday, May 18-19. Volunteers are needed beginning on Sunday, May 18th. Tulsa to Host National Soccer Tournament July 20-26
Tulsa will host the 2015 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships at Mohawk Soccer Complex July 20-26.
The U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships Series is the country’s oldest and most prestigious national youth soccer tournament. Ninety-six teams from around the nation will attend. The tournament is expected to have an economic impact of over $4 million in the Tulsa region.

Tulsa Shock Re-signs Courtney Paris
The Tulsa Shock have re-signed center Courtney Paris to a one-year contract. In 2013, Paris signed with the Shock as a free agent on June 22 during the season. Paris appeared in 23 games for the Shock in 2013, averaging 3.8 points per game, shooting 46.1 percent from the field and grabbing 4.1 rebounds per game.
Danny Manning Becomes a Demon
Danny Manning has announced his resignation as The University of Tulsa’s head basketball coach, according to TU’s Vice President & Director of Athletics Derrick Gragg. Manning is expected to be named the head basketball coach at Wake Forest University, known as the Demon Deacons.
Back In The Big Dance
TU WATCH PARTY: The University of Tulsa held a watch party at the Donald W. Reynolds Center on March 16 to learn who the Golden Hurricane would play in the first round of the Tournament. Jubilation exploded when announced that Tulsa would play in the first round. Tulsa received a No. 13-seed and the Bruins a No. 4 seed and would play on Friday, March 21 in a South Region game in San Diego, Calif.
Tulsa Shock Call for Fan Photos for Locker Room Tunnel
The Tulsa Shock are asking fans to submit their favorite Shock picture or note of encouragement to be used in the locker room’s tunnel in the Center. The fan submitted pictures and notes will be incorporated into a wall mural in the tunnel that leads to the Shock locker room. Also included in the mural, will be quotes from Head Coach Fred Williams and photos of historical Shock moments. The tunnel is a 115’ x 8’ area, with a span near 1,000 square feet. When the mural is installed, each featured fan’s image will be seen by the Shock players at each home game.
TU Establishes Glenn Dobbs Fund for Football
The University of Tulsa announced recently the establishment of the Glenn Dobbs Fund for Football Excellence to address the most important needs of the football program.
B.A. Girls Finish Perfect Season
NUMBER : The Broken Arrow Tigers girls team celebrated winning the state championship on March 12 at the Mabee Center on the Campus after defeating Edmond Sante Fe for the crown. The Tigers finished the season undefeated under the coaching of Mike Hughes.
Bridget Pettis Named Shock Assistant Coach
The Tulsa Shock have named Bridget Pettis as an assistant coach on Fred Williams’ coaching staff. In 2013, Pettis was an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Sparks. Pettis was also an assistant coach with the Phoenix Mercury from 2006 to 2009 and won two Championships in 2007 and 2009. Pettis later served as director of basketball operations for the Mercury from 2010 to 2011.
Tulsa Athletics Begin Play May 2
The Tulsa Athletics soccer team, a member of the National Premier Soccer League, will begin its 2014 play with the Red River Cup preseason tournament, to be held May 2-3 Athletics Stadium at Tulsa Expo Square.
Union Redskins Celebrate Championship
The Union Redskins, under the coaching leadership of Rudy Garcia, continue to celebrate the team’s third basketball Class 6A championship after the 72-64 win over Putnam City West March 15 at the Mabee Center on the campus in Tulsa.
