Nothing announces the beginning of fall in Tulsa County like the Tulsa State Fair. Running this year from Sept. 27 to Oct. 7, the Tulsa State Fair is Tulsa County’s largest family event, providing educational experiences and entertainment during an 11-day span.
Broken Arrow Brewing Company opened in June and it has become a popular gathering place at the 333 West Dallas Street location in the historic building that once housed the Broken Arrow Electric Light Company and Ice House.
Nola’s Creole and Cocktails, 1334 E. 15th St., opened in April along Tulsa’s Cherry Street in a majorly renovated space that for many years housed bars and nightclubs. The space is barely recognizable from what it used to be.
As the temperatures begin to creep into the 90s, I’m reminded of the words of Jacob Tovar: “I got three good reasons for leaving Tulsa: July, August and you.”
Dos Bandidos opened in March in the space that previously held Rusty Crane at 109 N. Detroit Ave. in downtown Tulsa’s Arts District.
I was sad to see Rusty Crane go. I know the owner, and I know how much of a dream that restaurant was for him. And the food was excellent and diverse.
Health food enthusiasts in Tulsa are rejoicing as Ediblend Superfood Café proudly announced its fresh kiosk at the upcoming 27,000 square foot food hall recently. The fresh kiosk will feature ediblend fan favorite items including its signature grab-and-go blends, salads, breakfast items and snacks. The upscale, modern ediblend concept promises to be a quick and convenient way for Mother Road Market-goers to fuel up with whole food options.
Our Tulsa area enjoys its best weather in the spring and fall, prompting venues and promoters to come up with events that are enticing enough to draw an audience inside. Are Willie Nelson and Tom Jones tempting enough? Perhaps ZZ Top and Speedwagon? Maybe Jerry Seinfeld on the comic side or a penetrating performance related to Black Wall Street.
