With a hard work ethic and determination, the Hurricane 14-U (ages 14 and under) recently captured the U.S. Club Soccer Boys National Championship, becoming the first soccer team in state history to ever win a title of any kind in club soccer.
Allan Trimble Inducted into Hall of Fame
The Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame introduced its class of 2018 recently, with seven new members who will be inducted later this year.
University of Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione, former OU, , high school football and University of Miami head coach Larry Coker, former Sooner football and player Ken Mendenhall, former baseball and major league star Robin Ventura, long-time Jenks high school football coach Allan Trimble, bicycle tricks pioneer Mat Hoffman, and rodeo pioneer Bill Pickett are the seven new members.
The SemGroup Sports Courts Open at Tulsa’s Gathering Place
The SemGroup Sports Courts, located at the southernmost part of the Gathering Place, are now open. They can be used for impromptu or organized games. The sports courts are designed for basketball, volleyball, street hockey and street soccer.
Courts are lit at night for visitors to enjoy.

Tulsa Boxers Win In Dallas
CHAMPS: Four Tulsa amateur boxers recently won championship belts from the “5th Annual Battle in Big D,” Aaron Sloan, head coach and owner of Tulsa’s Engine Room Boxing Gym announced. Jerimiah Milton (24 yrs, 201+lbs, Engine Room,) Eddie Oaks (31 yrs, 152 lbs, Engine Room,) Joqua McLendon (26 yrs, 165 lbs, Engine Room,) and Neida Ibarra (23 yrs, 125 lbs, Tulsa Boxing Gym) each won his/her respective weight division at the Boxing sanctioned tournament hosted by the Dallas (Police Activities League.) Andre Brown (23 yrs, 152 lbs, Engine Room) received a silver medal. The boxers competed alongside close to 700 amateur fighters from across the country at this event.

This year’s Iba Awards was another success as former University of Tulsa golf coach Dale McNamara, her daughter and former TU golfer Melissa McNamara Luellen, and former Oklahoma State University wrestler Kenny Monday were honored. The Keynote Speaker was Doug Gottlieb, Fox Sports Radio and former basketball player. Dave Hunziker, the “Voice of the Cowboys” on the Oklahoma State Cowboy Radio Network, served as the master of ceremonies. The event was held the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in June.
