TCC Names Dr. Leigh Goodson President, Fourth in College’s History
The Tulsa Community College Board of Regents voted today to name Leigh B. Goodson, Ph.D., as the fourth president to serve the college since it was founded in 1970. Goodson is the first female named to the role in TCC’s history and the first female president of one of the state’s three largest higher education institutions. provides the first two years of a baccalaureate education and key workforce training for the Tulsa area.

King served as vice president for museum affairs and executive director of Gilcrease Museum for six years. The 25,000-square-foot Helmerich Center for American Research, located adjacent to Gilcrease, is nearing completion and scheduled to open this fall.

Kristin Chenoweth Comes Home, Helps Students
Tony and Emmy Award winning singer and actress Kristin Chenoweth returned to her hometown and alma mater to celebrate the recently-completed construction and renovations at Broken Arrow High School. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held March 13.
TCC Names Three Candidates for President
Three candidates for president of Tulsa Community College have been selected to visit and meet with employees, students and the public as part of the search to replace current President Thomas K. McKeon before his retirement June 30.
Cascia Hall Science Research Team Wins State
After a first place team win at the regional science fair, the Cascia Hall science research team, led by Sally Fenska, competed in the 2014 State Science Fair, winning the high school sweepstakes award for the team with the most category and special awards.
Two students won first place division I category awards, two students won first place division II category awards, and four brought home division I second place category awards. An additional 16 special awards and scholarships were given to Cascia Hall students, and senior Gage Holleman was selected for the fourth consecutive year to attend the 2014 International Science and Engineering Fair in May in Los Angeles, Calif.
Notre Dame Bus Tour Stops in Tulsa
TOUTING EDUCATION: On March 10, the University of Notre Dame’s Fight For Our Children’s Future national bus tour came to Tulsa. The tour is a cross-country, year-long effort to raise awareness for the profound impact education can make on a child’s life and to celebrate the unique role that Catholic schools play as agents of human formation and social transformation.
OSUIT Dedicates Renovated Training Center
Representatives from the SouthWestern Association were on the Institute of Technology campus in Okmulgee for a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony of the newly renovated space that houses the university’s Industrial and Farm Equipment Technology program.
Events Planned for Miss Helen’s 60th Year
Miss Helen’s Private School in Tulsa is celebrating 60 years this year, with a host of activities to honor alumni, students and faculty to celebrate and honor the memory of the original “Miss Helen Wingo,” who founded the school in 1954. Today, her daughter-in-law Lynda Wingo administers the school and Lynda’s daughter Jayme Wingo-Martin works with her.
Jenks Principal Creates Positive Atmosphere
Jenks Middle School Principal Rob Miller has been named the 2015 Oklahoma Middle School Principal of the Year.
Miller began his journey in education after spending 10 years in the Marines.
His father’s years in the military and the reputation of the Marines were all the reason Miller needed to join the ranks.
