Organizers for Center of the Universe Festival announce 85 artists for the nine Club Venues. The Center of the Universe Festival takes place in Tulsa’s Brady Arts District Friday July 25 and Saturday July 26, 2014.
Tulsa Modern Movement Plans for 2014-15 Season

Living Arts Foundation Call for Animated Short Films
The Living Arts Animation Festival features short film animations submitted locally and from around the world. Animations may be stop-motion, Claymation, 2-D animation, 3-D animation or cut-outs, to name a few. All films must be 6 minutes or less. Curator Mery McNett will determine the festival selections.

Tulsa PAC Provides Entertainment, Generates Revenue
You might have been following all the news about cuts to the City of Tulsa budget. The Performing Arts Center, which operates lean to begin with, faced a potential loss of six positions. While it appears that the immediate crisis has passed, arts funding will always be on the chopping block during tough times. Watch for news about ways Tulsans are going to proactively devise arts funding that doesn’t rely on sales tax.

Tulsa Zoo Master Plan to Bring New Exhibits
Tulsans can expect to see substantial changes in the not-so-distant future at the Tulsa Zoo.
In 2011, Tulsa Zoo Management Inc. () entered into an official public/private partnership with the city of Tulsa. Shortly thereafter, board members and staff set out to create a 20-year master plan, identifying the zoo’s areas of strengths and weaknesses and outlining new projects to create what Tulsa Zoo Terrie Correll terms “a premier zoo.”
Gilcrease Offers Summer Art Camps
Gilcrease Museum and the Henry Zarrow Center for Art and Education are pleased to offer an exciting variety of summer camp programs for students ages 5 – 12 this summer! Each week-long camp features art discussion, along with exploration and hands-on art projects. Participants may choose half- or full-day programs, and extended hours will be available until 5:00 p.m. for an additional charge. Camp sessions for children age 5 – 6 will take place at Gilcrease Museum and sessions for children age 7 – 12 will take place at the Henry Zarrow Center for Art and Education.
SummerStage, Seinfeld and Wicked on Tap at the PAC
Escape this summer to downtown Tulsa, where the commonplace and customary will be what’s unusual. SummerStage at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center is branching out to include a number of cool shows at several venues. Affordable, somewhat quirky, quality entertainment, under the SummerStage umbrella, is slated for the Woody Guthrie Center, Living Arts of Tulsa, Fly Loft and The Comedy Parlor, in addition to what will be staged in the PAC’s three Second Street theaters. This grouping of events is called Tulsa Fringe, and was inspired by the seminal Fringe festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Hop Jam, StreetCred in Review, Summer to Bring More Events
On May 18, as Mayfest and the Blue Dome Arts Festival were ending, the 1st annual Hop Jam was just beginning. The music and beer festival, created by pop-rock band Hanson, took place in the Brady Arts District with 14 Oklahoma craft breweries serving samples of their homegrown beers. The stage, set up at Archer and Main Street, played host to bands Capitol Cars, Taddy Porter, Butch Walker, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band before a final performance by Hanson.
Renaissance Festival Returns for 19th Year
The Castle of Muskogee offers a wonderful experience at the 19th annual Oklahoma Renaissance Festival. Attendees can expect to be transported to the 16th century as Castleton Village comes alive with more than 600 costumed stage and street performers, merchants, and artisans. The event will include daytime events, including the Queen’s Tea, the Royal Luncheon, and the King’s Smoker and after-hours entertainment at the Masqued Ball, the Pirate’s Feaste, and the Ceilidh.
