TU Softball Team Evolving into National Power
Oh what a difference 20 years can make. The University of Tulsa’s softball team suffered through a 2-43 season when the program started in 1993. This season the Lady Hurricane was ranked 18th nationally going into tournament play and coach John Bargfeldt says his team could be on the verge of title contention. Progress is an understatement.
TU Football Feeds Children
Tulsa Golden Hurricane football players and coaches participated in the Feed My Starving Children program by packing 34,128 meals that will go to feed 94 children for a year.

Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors To Travel To United Kingdom
Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors will represent the community at the Henley Royal Regatta in the United Kingdom. This is the first time in the history of the sport that a high school crew from Oklahoma will be represented at this prestigious event. The Henley Royal Regatta started in 1839 and is a longstanding tradition in international rowing. Crews from all over the world compete in a head to head knockout race over a five-day period that takes place the first week of July.
ORU Golden Eagles Announces Soccer Coaching Changes
With the recent resignation of longtime men’s soccer coach Steve Hayes, the athletics department has named Ryan Bush as the new head coach for the men’s soccer team, while Roger Bush will take over as the head coach for the women’s soccer team.

Tulsa Shock Announces 2013 Final Roster
The Tulsa Shock announce the final roster for the 2013 season. Riquna Williams, Kayla Pedersen, Roneeka Hodges, Jennifer Lacy and Glory Johnson are the five returning players from the 2012 season. Tiffany Jackson-Jones and Elizabeth Cambage return to the team after not playing last season. New additions include veterans Nicole Powell and Candice Wiggins who were acquired in the off-season in a blockbuster trade. Rounding out the eleven player roster are rookies Skylar Diggins and Angel Goodrich.
Drillers Pledge $10,000 to Tornado Relief
The Tulsa Drillers announced Wednesday that the team was donating $10,000 to the tornado relief efforts on behalf of those who were affected by this week’s storms in Shawnee and Moore, Oklahoma.The donation will be made to the American Red Cross.
Tulsa Shock Joins Disaster Relief Efforts
The Tulsa Shock and the Center have partnered with the American Red Cross to assist in the Moore, OK tornado relief efforts. The Shock and the Center will be accepting donations at the Center Thursday, May 23 through Sunday, May 26 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Donations will be accepted at the box office located on 3rd Street between Denver and Frisco.

Shock Selects Skylar Diggins in Draft
The Tulsa Shock has selected Skylar Diggins with the third overall pick in the Draft. Diggins, a guard at Notre Dame, finished her career averaging 15.7 points per game. Diggins owns Notre Dame career records for points, steals, free throws made, free throws attempted, games started, minutes played, double-figure scoring games and triple-doubles. A four-time All-American, three-time regional Most Outstanding Player and two-time Big East Player of the Year, Diggins is the only player in school history to earn all of these honors.
Tulsa Athletics Soccer Enters NPSL
The Tulsa Athletics held a press conference April 4 at McNellie’s. From left are Joey Ryan, head coach; Dr. Thomas Kern, co-owner; Sonny Dalesandro, co-owner/chairman; and Jake Dobkins, player. 2013 will be their inaugural season in the National Premier Soccer League (), which is a national league at the fourth tier of the American soccer pyramid. The team’s colors are green and yellow. They will compete in the NPSL’s South-South Central division.
Jenks Senior UNC Bound
In March, Jenks Senior and McDonald’s All-American in basketball, Jessica Washington, right, received KTUL’s Elite Eight Ford player of the year award. Washington stands with her mother, Kelly, in Jenks’ Frank Herald Gymnasium. Washington will play for the University of North Carolina in the fall.
Glenn Dobbs Honored
On April 6, The University of Tulsa unveiled an eight-foot tall bronze statue depicting legendary TU football player Glenn Dobbs during the 1940 to 1942 seasons. After his collegiate and professional playing career, Dobbs returned to Tulsa as athletics director and head football coach.
