Tulsa Shock Partners with Hertz to Help Fans Go Green on July 11
The Tulsa Shock has partnered with The Hertz Corporation and its family of car rental brands, which includes Hertz, Dollar Rent A Car and Thrifty Car Rental, to host a Green Night on July 11 against the Los Angeles Sparks. As part of Green Night, Hertz will provide free parking at 2nd St. and Denver St. to the first 50 fans who carpool to the game. Carpooling with just one other Shock fan can save 50 percent on transport costs, help ease traffic congestion and reduce driving-related emissions to and from games.
TPS Saves $8 Million
Faculty and staff at Tulsa Public Schools have saved more than $8 million in energy costs through energy-efficient practices.
The district has achieved $8,677,742 in cost savings in the 34 months since forming a strategic alliance with the national energy conservation company Cenergistic, which presented its Energy Excellence Award during the June 17 board meeting.
Jenks Students Work in Research Program

The University of Tulsa Offers Master Degrees In Energy Law, Business
The University of Tulsa College of Law and Concord Law School of Kaplan University recently established an online Master of Jurisprudence in Energy Law () degree program. The program was designed to meet the expressed desire of energy professionals to gain a sophisticated knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern the energy industry. Enrollment is open on a rolling basis, and courses begin on Aug. 26, 2013.

Gould wanted to be the teacher that she needed when she was in school—one who cared enough to help her succeed despite being diagnosed with dyslexia and .
Gould’s parents, however, provided her all she needed. “My father influenced my teaching because he was my greatest advocate in school,” she says. Because dyslexia made school a challenge for Gould, “he always worked with my teachers, and made sure I had everything I needed to be successful.”
Jeltz Scholarship Awarded To NSU Student from Tulsa
Established to help minority students pursue their dreams of higher education, the Jeltz Scholarship Foundation recently awarded a $900 scholarship to Precious Hall, a junior majoring in social work, during a meeting at the Center for Admissions and Student Enrollment at Northeastern State University.
Tulsa Tech Educator Gets National Recognition
Michelle Jackson was recognized at the 19th-Annual “Making It Work Day” at the Capitol. The event, sponsored by the Oklahoma Career and Technical Educators Equity Council (CTEEC), was held earlier this spring at the Oklahoma State Capitol Blue Room. The council advocates for students pursuing non-traditional careers and the use of resources for the education of single parents.
