Route 66 Marathon Draws Thousands
HAPPY TRAILS: Newspapers Art Director Bryan Cantrell sets off at the starting line of the 2012 Williams Route 66 Marathon. Roughly 20,000 runners participated in the seventh-annual race Nov. 17-18, which included a fun run, 5K, marathon relay, half marathon and full marathon. Cantrell was one of 1,897 who completed the 26.2 mile marathon, which was won by South Dakota resident Curtis Huffman, with a time of 2:39:24.
TU Men’s Soccer is NCAA Bound
University of Tulsa soccer players are all smiles as they hear that their first round opponent in the Tournament on Nov. 18 was South Florida in Tampa. TU won the game 1-0. The 13th-ranked Tulsa men’s soccer team earned a No. 11 seed and a first-round bye in the Tournament.
Oilers Start Season With Bright Outlook

Tulsa 66ers Get New NBA-Style Floor
The Tulsa 66ers have a new floor, but it’s not just any kind of floor.
The new -style floor was designed by Connor Sports Flooring, which has created floors for multiple teams, including the Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat.
The floor was first revealed during a commemorative ceremony on Oct. 4.
Route 66 Marathon Coming Nov. 17-18
Marathoners, spectators and curious bystanders can all take part in the running fun at the 7th-annual Williams Route 66 Marathon, Nov. 17-18.
Participants can compete in the marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 5k run and walk, one-mile fun run and walk, and the Mascot Dash. A record number of participants have pre-registered for the races this year.
Tulsa Youth Hockey Underway
New Tulsa Junior Oilers coach Zac Desjardins said there’s more to hockey than scoring goals or delivering crunching body checks. For his team of 16 to 20 year olds, the sport is also intended to build character and teach life lessons.
Indoor Football Moves to Tulsa Convention Center
The Oklahoma Defenders, a Tulsa-based indoor football team, announced that their 2013 home season will be played at the Tulsa Convention Center Arena. Season tickets are expected to go on sale in October.

Tulsa Shock Win Third Overall Pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft
The Tulsa Shock were awarded the third overall pick in the 2013 draft next spring at the draft lottery in Bristol, Connecticut on Sept. 26, 2012. The Phoenix Mercury was awarded the first pick, while the Chicago Sky received the second. The Washington Mystics who had the greatest chance of getting the first pick were awarded the fourth.
