Tulsa Agrees to Terms With Kansas’ Danny Manning as New Head Basketball Coach
The University of Tulsa has reached an agreement in principle with University of Kansas Assistant Coach Danny Manning on becoming the school’s 29th head basketball coach, Director of Athletics Ross Parmley announced Thursday.
Jordan Clarkson Selected to NABC First Team
The 2012 National Association of Basketball Coaches recently named Tulsa sophomore Jordan Clarkson to the All-District 11 First Team.
Clarkson, a 6’4” guard from San Antonio, Texas, averaged 16.5 points per game and led the Golden Hurricane to a third-place finish in Conference . He scored in double figures in each of his last 28 games and scored 20 or more points eight times. He ranked second in C- in scoring and had a .784 free throw percentage and a .435 field goal percentage. Clarkson also dished out 2.5 assists per game.
TU Men Win C-USA Indoor Track Championship
The University of Tulsa men’s track and field team won the 2012 Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Birmingham CrossPlex in early March.

NEO Sets J.V. Haney Golf Tournament
Spring has arrived and it is time again to start looking forward to golf outings! What better way to enjoy spring than to participate in the 10th annual Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College “Puddin’ Haney” Golf Classic.
In 2002, J.V. “Puddin’” Haney, a 1954 alumnus of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, got a group of alumni together to play golf and to raise money for scholarships. Today, has raised over $30,000 for scholarships.
The “Puddin’” Classic is changing the lives of students at for a lifetime. Haney is once again serving as the events chairman.
Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors Well Represented
The Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors started their spring campaign in fine fashion at the Heart of Texas regatta in Austin, Tex. The team earned two first place finishes along with two bronze medals and many crews qualifying for their respective finals.
NASCAR’s Kenny Wallace is Coming to The Highbanks
With just five weeks until the first race of the 2012 racing season, the Salina Highbanks Speedway is proud to announce that the NASCAR racing superstar Kenny Wallace will be racing their track the second weekend of the season, April 21. The Highbanks solidified a deal with The United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) in early March to have Wallace at their USMTS event.

ORU to Hold First Armed Forces Appreciation Night
Oral Roberts hosts Louisiana Tech in its first ever Armed Forces Appreciation Night at J.L. Johnson Stadium on March 30, at 6:30 p.m.
Free admission to the game will be available for all military personnel and veterans (Military ID or VA card required). There will be fundraisers, raffles, and other donation opportunities for fans during the game. All proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Armed Forces Foundation.
Wojcik Fired as Tulsa’s Head Basketball Coach
University of Tulsa Director of Athletics Ross Parmley announced on Sunday a change in leadership of the Golden Hurricane basketball program with the dismissal of Doug Wojcik as the school’s head basketball coach.
McConnell-Miller Returns
Kathy McConnell-Miller will return to the Tulsa Shock in 2012 as an assistant under Head Coach Gary Kloppenburg.
McConnell-Miller was an assistant with the Shock for the final 19 games of the 2011 season. She was also the head basketball coach at the University of Tulsa from 1999 to 2005. From 2005 to 2010, she was the head basketball coach at the University of Colorado.
Rotary Announces Iba Awards
Jessica Mendoza, National Pro Fastpitch’s USSSA Pride and U.S. Women’s National Softball player with two Olympic medals, was given this year’s female recipient of the Henry P. Iba Citizen Athlete Award by the Tulsa Rotary. Jessica Mendoza is a two-time Olympic medalist as a member of the softball team, and a member of the National Pro Fastpitch’s USSSA Pride, which captured the 2010 Championship title. She is also an color analyst for the Women’s College World Series and a sideline reporter during the College Football and Major League Baseball seasons. She was voted Women’s Sports Foundation Sportswoman of the Year in the team category in 2008 as well as Softball Female Athlete of the Year in 2006.

Tulsa Sports Charities is putting together its 11th Tulsa Sports Charities Celebrity/Charity Golf Tournament, Presented By Williams. Steve Owens, Billy Sims and Jason White will act as honorary hosts for this exciting event.
