Tulsa Rowing Club Well Represented At The Dallas SWEAT Indoor Rowing Tournament
On Saturday Feb. 4, 2012 the Tulsa Rowing Club competed in the South West Ergometer Amateur Tournament held in Dallas, TX. The club performed exceptionally well in both the adult and junior categories. This indoor rowing event features events for different age and weight categories. Individual athletes compete over two thousand meters on Concept Two rowing machines and try to record the fastest time possible in their age and experience categories. At the close of racing, the team had won five medals and also placed well in other events with the majority of the team recording personal best times.
Jenks’ McMains Seeking Revenge in GTR Cup at BOK
Should Jenks senior Ganon McMains choose hockey or lacrosse? He‘s using his speed and hitting ability in becoming a star in both.
“In hockey and lacrosse you have room to add your own input into the game. It’s not like football with a set play every time,’’ says McMains, who hopes to play both sports on the club level at Oklahoma State next year. “I like hockey more because I’ve played it longer, and I feel like I’m better at it. I have more experience and I’m more comfortable at my position.’’
Tulsa Football Will Play Five Home Games in First Eight Weeks
Tulsa’s 2012 football schedule is highlighted with five Bowl teams from this past season, including road contests at Iowa State and Arkansas, it was announced today. Tulsa is coming off of an 8-5 season in 2010 under first-year Head Coach Bill Blankenship against a schedule that featured four top-10 ranked opponents.
Tulsa to Host U.S. Elite Challenge
More than 400 gymnasts are expected to head to Tulsa for trampoline and tumbling’s 2012 U.S. Elite Challenge competition March 30 through April 1. Held at the Tulsa Convention Center, the three-day event showcases the nation’s best in men’s and women’s trampoline, tumbling, synchronized trampoline and double mini-trampoline. The U.S. Elite Challenge is one of three events that are part of the selection process for the U.S. Olympic Team for trampoline.
Union Multi-Sport Star Evans Readies for GTR Cup
Coleby Evans may only be a sophomore, but he has already provided dramatic moments on a hockey rink and football field.
As a Union freshman, Evans snapped a scoreless tie against Broken Arrow in the inaugural Cup, powering the Redskins to a 2-1 championship victory. Almost two months ago as a linebacker for the Union football team, he intercepted a pass and scored the winning touchdown against the Tigers in the Class 6A championship game.
First GTR Cup Recap
Last year’s first annual Cup went off without a hitch. The high school hockey tournament featured Broken Arrow, Jenks, Union, and the Tulsa Comets hockey clubs playing at the Center.

Idlet Family Lives on Trout Fishing
Most Tulsa basketball fans know that Steven Idlet is a senior center on the University of Tulsa basketball team.
Some may not know that his father, Ezra Idlet, is a very popular musician in the popular musical duo Trout Fishing in America, which performs folk rock and children’s music. Ezra plays acoustic and electric guitar, banjo and vocals. His partner is Keith Grimwood, who plays upright bass, Clevinger bass, bass guitar and vocals. They took their name from the novel Trout Fishing in America by Richard Brautigan.

Second Annual GTR Cup Scheduled Feb. 11-12
With construction continuing on the newly renovated Tulsa Oilers Ice Center, the Tulsa Youth Hockey Association () season has been placed on hold. Caught in the middle is the second annual Cup, moved from mid-December to Feb. 11-12 at the Center.
Tulsa’s Trey Watts Honored
Tulsa sophomore running back Trey Watts has been named a nominee for the 2011 Burlsworth Trophy.
The Burlsworth Trophy and the presenting sponsor, the Springdale (Ark.) Rotary Club, announced the 2011 list of 50 nominees, which includes team captains, all-conference selections, and national statistical leaders from every conference in the nation.
