Editor’s Note: This article is the 18th in a multi-part series about the past, present and future of the oil industry in greater Tulsa and throughout the region. The series began in Mid-June 2005 and has been published monthly since. The series is available on this web site.
Wynton Marsalis Protégé to Perform at Brady Theater
In 2002, I had the pleasure of interviewing Wynton Marsalis, recently hailed by Jazz Times Magazine as the King of Jazz. It was a privilege and honor to not only interview Marsalis in person, but I had the opportunity to “kick it” with him for hours talking music and our efforts to provide music education for the youth.
Pre-Approved Loans Help Quell Home-Buying Stress
Here is a real estate associate’s nightmare.
A man and his wife contact the associate. They want to see houses in a certain price range. The associate is delighted with his good fortune. The couple shows up at the appointed hour nicely dressed driving a car that screams affluence.
Fans Will Love ‘Go Vision’ at the Tulsa-UTEP Game
I’m really excited about the Tulsa Golden Hurricane-UTEP football game to be played at Skelly Stadium Friday, October 27. Not only will the game be played on national television, the fans at the game will have the opportunity to view plays and replays on Go Vision.
Independent Home Appraisals Are Beneficial
Two houses, one slightly larger than the other, went on the market a few years ago. They were across the street from each other.
One, a basically single story house, was made of an attractive gray stone that had a distinguished look. It was the smaller of the two by square footage but the difference wasn’t great.
This ‘n That From the Area’s World of Entertainment
Recently, the Inside Scoop ran into a talented couple spending lots of time together working on a special project to take place later in the year. Let’s hope it’s just music they are making. Stay tuned for an update in the next issue of Greater Tulsa Reporter.
Football is in the Air; Vic Poole’s Night a Success
The outdoor football season is upon us as we have finished our year with the indoor Tulsa Talons. It will be interesting to see how the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane will do this season under the successful and impressive head coach Steve Kragthorpe.
Are Real Estate Agents Worth the Additional Cost?
The following are three views of the profession of real estate associate that were expressed to me recently (and slightly edited for brevity):
New Contract Clarification Reduces Home-Buyer’s Stress
So you want to buy a house but you are terrified of facing the paperwork? There’s all that fine print, struggling to see if you are signing your life or your first-born away while accumulating something that will fall apart in the hopefully not-too-near future. The affluent among us can hire a lawyer, the rest have to make do with parties of the first and third part and hope we can figure out what it means.
The Vic Poole Family Stays Brave in Tough Times
Imagine waking up one morning and knocking over your coffee or tripping on the way down the stairs. In 2001, Vic Poole thought that these small acts of clumsiness or haste could happen to anyone at anytime. Little did he know that these were the first signs that he was inflicted with a life-crippling disease. Five years later, Vic is wheelchair bound with only a dry erase board to communicate with the world.
Primeaux’s Kia Brings Best of Both Worlds to Area
Much has happened in my life since my last column. Several months ago, a broker called to tell me about a Kia dealership that was for sale. I wasn’t too interested at first. My former partner David Moritz in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area purchased two Kia stores and he was very happy with them, saying that Kia had a very bright future ahead.
Home Inspections Make Dollars and Sense
You have just found the perfect house, desirable in every detail, a place where you and ours look forward to spending years and years of happy domesticity.

Jazz Star Eldredge Jackson Premieres New CD
One of Tulsa’s bright, shining music stars, Eldredge Jackson, will premiere his brand new CD, “Listening Pleasure,” at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame in the month of May. According to Jackson, “This CD means so much to me; we’ve taken a couple of years to put it together, but believe me, this CD is one that I am very proud of and one that I believe everyone will want to make a part of their personal jazz collection.” Nationally known smooth jazz artist and fellow Tulsan Wayman Tisdale collaborated with Eldredge, producing what both men believe has captured the soul and passion of Eldredge’s saxophone playing. Inside Scoop spoke with L.A.-based Tisdale recently about the new CD and the collaboration. Tis says, “Eldredge is a tremendous talent and it was truly a great experience working with such a professional cat, and what a dynamic artist! I recommend that all of Tulsa pick this one up—it’s the real deal.”

Political Warming
Op-Ed Columnist George F. Will recently wrote a column “The Media Heats Up Over Global Warming.” If you didn’t catch it, you missed the irony.
