These essential groups allow students to develop leadership skills, network with professionals across the nation, and get involved in numerous projects for the betterment of our community.
Tulsa Tech Career Academy Expands in Region
Tulsa Tech’s Career Academy is a comprehensive alternative education program that seeks to recover Tulsa-area high school dropouts and those at risk of dropping out. The Career Academy has been serving the region’s at-risk youth between the ages of 17-20 for nearly five years, and the success of the program has led to a growth in applications for enrollment as well as an expanded partnership with all 14 regional school districts.
Groundbreaking Held for TCC Student Center
Mayor G.T. Bynum, City Councilor Anna America, Tulsa Community College officials including President and Leigh B. Goodson, and Board of Regents Chair Paul Cornell held a groundbreaking Feb. 27 for the newest Vision Tulsa project – the Student Success and Career Center at the Southeast Campus, 10300 E. 81st St. The $5.3 million facility is part of the Vision Tulsa package approved by voters in 2016.
Spartan Names VP of Flight Operations
Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology recently hired John Fitzpatrick as Vice President of Flight Operations for its pilot program.
Fitzpatrick is charged with implementing Spartan’s competitive recruitment effort for certified flight instructors. Having spent over two decades in corporate management, Fitzpatrick served most recently as chief operating officer for ISACO Flight Training in Redding, California.

Cascia Hall Names New Headmaster
On July 1, Fr. Philip Cook, O.S.A., will take the helm as Headmaster of Cascia Hall Preparatory School.
Cook has served at Cascia Hall off and on for the past 25 years. He came to the school in 1993 where he earned a reputation as an esteemed teacher of Theology and Latin in the middle school. After two years at Cascia, he moved to Chicago to complete his studies. Once ordained to the priesthood in 1997, he returned to Cascia Hall.
ORU Chapel an Integral Part of Student Life
The Oral Roberts University campus is home to unique architecture in many of its structures, with gold tones and unorthodox shapes. One building is an echo of the large tents that held the revivals of Christian televangelist Oral Roberts. Students, faculty, staff and administrators gather twice per week in Christ’s Chapel for a 60-minute chapel service. No classes are held during this time, and campus dining closes for chapel attendance.
2017 Brought Student Success at Tulsa Tech
Now that the holidays are over, we find ourselves returning to work, school, and the busy schedules that accompany life in general.
While 2018 will certainly offer many exciting opportunities for Tulsa Tech students, faculty, and staff, this past year was full of activity, and included some major accomplishments in 2017.
TCC Named Bellwether Finalist
Tulsa Community College has been named a finalist for a national Bellwether award. The selection as a finalist is recognition for the work the school has done in less than two years as part of the Pathways Project, a national initiative sponsored by American Association of Community College and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
