Spartan Names VP of Flight Operations
Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology recently hired John Fitzpatrick as Vice President of Flight Operations for its pilot program.
Fitzpatrick is charged with implementing Spartan’s competitive recruitment effort for certified flight instructors. Having spent over two decades in corporate management, Fitzpatrick served most recently as chief operating officer for ISACO Flight Training in Redding, California.

The Parent Child Center of Tulsa’s friends and donors went “Under the Sea” for the Toyland Ball held Jan. 20 at the Cox Business Center in downtown Tulsa. Toyland Ball is the signature event of the Parent Child Center of Tulsa. Ruth and R.D. Al Sowards received the Guardian Angel award honoring them for the difference they have made in the Parent Child Center of Tulsa’s mission to prevent child abuse and neglect. The black tie optional gala was a success with cocktails, dinner, live auction, and dancing to the band Drive.

Senior Star associates took a special flight aboard that Flagship Detroit, the oldest flying DC-3 in the world, on Jan. 24 at the Aviation Center.

Mayor G.T. Bynum Appoints New Chief of Economic Development
Kian Kamas has been named the new Chief of Economic Development for the City of Tulsa. Kamas’s appointment begins March 1; she will succeed Kathy Taylor. Kamas has served as the Deputy Chief of Economic Development since June 2017.

City councilors are preparing to decide what the future of downtown Tulsa’s parking meter system will look like.
“The downtown parking meter system is an embarrassment to the city,” said Mayor G.T. Bynum during his presentation to the Tulsa City Council Urban and Economic Development Committee on Jan. 10.

Progress in Downtown Owasso
Construction is moving forward on both mixed-use structures located in downtown Owasso’s Redbud District.
In November, the Owasso Chamber of Commerce held a ground-breaking ceremony for Seven6Main, to be located at the southeast corner of 76th Street North and Main Street.
The building is planned to be 41,000 square feet and three stories with restaurants, retail and apartments.
