Hats Off to Rick Couri; Fish Stories at Flavors
Our hats go off to Rick Couri and all he has done over the years to help Operation Aware raise funds for drug prevention among our youth.
The public knows Rick for at least three important reasons. He is a radio personality on KRMG 740AM, where he has been a sidekick to John Erling for many years, he does radio and television color for the Tulsa Talons and radio color for the University of Tulsa football games, and for the past 18 years he has performed unusual annual fund raising efforts for Operation Aware.
Summer Bringing Football, Baseball, Jazz and More!
As usual, there’s a lot of action going on throughout the region. In sports, as of this writing we have two first place teams, the Tulsa Drillers and our Tulsa Talons. The Drillers have a young team, which gives hope to the parent Colorado Rockies. Some day in the future we will see some of our Drillers helping the Rockies to a National League championship. Went Hubbard, Chuck Lamson and all the Drillers staff do an excellent job in bringing us exciting Texas League baseball.
Remembering Baylee and Friends; Life Goes on in Greater Tulsa
I am very fortunate to be involved in so many excellent events that have been occurring in the area. A sobering thought, though, is the remembrance of the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing 10 years ago. It seems like yesterday, and my heart goes out to the families and everybody involved in the tragedy.
Amphitheater, Bond Vote, Growth in the News; Mardi Gras Remains a New Orleans Attraction
It’s great to be in northeast Oklahoma during this early springtime of the year with the flowers blooming and the leaves and grass turning green.
Around the Region
Late winter is always an interesting time as we head toward warmer weather and the Easter and Passover seasons. It is also a time when most sports are played concurrently. For example, upcoming are the high school basketball playoffs, the college conference tournaments and the resulting NCAA tournament, high school and college baseball, major and minor league baseball spring training, high school and college tennis, golf, softball and track, and college football spring training.
Winners’ Wisdom
As our personal and professional lives get more complicated and as the world becomes more specialized, there is no shortage of free advice. Always remember that there may be nothing more costly and expensive than free advice.
