FAITH IN U.S.: St. Pius X School in Tulsa recently hosted a naturalization ceremony for 35 individuals. These individuals represented all but one continent in the world. Some of the countries that were represented included Australia, Bulgaria, Peru and France. Assistant Principal Theresa Adams spoke with Chief United States District Judge Claire V. Eagan about holding the ceremony at the school. Both agreed that the event would be very educational for students.
Day of Caring Kicks Off United Way
More than 1,000 supporters from the greater Tulsa community helped kick off United Way’s 2009 Campaign at the 18th Annual Day of Caring Friday, Sept. 11 at the University of Tulsa’s Chapman Stadium.

Both Governor Brad Henry and Mayor Kathy Taylor have proclaimed September “Hunger Action Month” in an effort to mobilize the public to take action against domestic hunger. Right here in Eastern Oklahoma, the number of people seeking food at emergency food pantries has risen by about 40 percent over the past year due to the economic downturn.
Bank of Oklahoma Collects Books
Bank of Oklahoma, Volunteers of America, The News on 6 and The CW 12/19 partnered to collect thousands of books for underprivileged children throughout Oklahoma during the sixth-annual Caring for Kids Book by Book literacy campaign. In total, the campaign collected 41,084 books this year alone.
Safe Kids and Tulsa Fire Department Inspect Child Seats
Safe Kids Tulsa Area today opened its new car seat inspection station at the Tulsa Fire Department Station 22. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will perform the inspections on a drop-in basis. Technicians will also train parents and caregivers in the proper installation and setup of their own specific car seats in their own vehicles. The station, located at 7303 E. 15th St., will be open 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. every third Thursday of the month.

Bank of America Business Capitol Provides $55 Million Asset-Based Loan to Cedar Creek, Inc.
Bank of America Business Capital, one of the world’s largest asset-based lenders, announced today that it provided a $55 million senior secured credit facility to Cedar Creek, Inc., a lumber and manufactured wood distributor based in Tulsa, Okla. The asset-based loan is being used to refinance existing debt. Bank of America is also providing Cedar Creek with treasury management products and services. ClearRidge Capital acted as advisor for the transaction.
Goals to Exceed for TAUW
The Tulsa Area United Way volunteers announced a new goal for the year. The goal was revealed by a local Girl Scout troop who proudly walked into the conference room carrying large signs.
Tulsa PRSA Holds 31st Annual Silver Link Awards Ceremony
The Tulsa Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America () held the 31st annual Silver Link Awards ceremony June 18, 2009, at The Silo Event Center at Redberry Farm. Fourteen Silver Link Awards and 15 Awards of Merit were presented to the Tulsa area’s top public relations, marketing and communications professionals to recognize achievement in the public relations field.

Six New Oklahoma Search Team Dogs Receive Needed Supplies
(TULSA) – As part of Cherokee Casinos ‘Anything Can Happen’ promotion, the Oklahoma Task Force One Canine Search Team recently received a $10,000 donation. The donation was given as a surprise to the unit, which is gathering supplies for six new dogs to be trained and aided properly.
