PSO Announces Plans for New Baseload Generation
AEP’s Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) subsidiary has announced plans to enter into a joint venture agreement with Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E) to build a new 950 megawatt coal-fueled electricity generating unit at the site of OG&E’s existing Sooner plant near Red Rock, in north central Oklahoma.
‘Guess the Balls’ Contest Underway at Renaissance
Jackie Cooper Imports and Mercedes-Benz, tournament partners of the John Q. Hammons Hotel Classic presented by SemGroup, are sponsoring a ‘Guess the Golf Balls’ contest this summer at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel & Convention Center. The winning contestant will draw for a 2006 C230 sport sedan at the annual LPGA event following competition, Sunday, September 10, at Cedar Ridge Country Club.

Hannah Hensel, a student at Union High School in Tulsa, has received The Alexander Hamilton Citizenship Achievement Award for superior citizenship and achievement in national competition.

Hillcrest Breaks Ground for New Heart Pavilion
Hillcrest Medical Center recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new, state-of the-art heart pavilion to be erected at the corner of 12th and Trenton in Tulsa. The new, 104 bed Hillcrest Heart Pavilion will be dedicated exclusively to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart problems.
Jo Herring Honored by Multiple Sclerosis Society
Jo Herring was this year’s Honorary Chair of the Tulsa MS Walk, a three-mile walk fundraising event held in April at Temple Israel for the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
NeighborFest Kicks Off 2006 Season

Alumni, Friends Gather toCelebrate ‘Best of TCC’ 2006
Tulsa Community College Alumni and Friends Association celebrated the achievements of 24 of the college’s most distinguished alumni at the eighth annual Best of TCC event May 18 at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel. A fundraiser for the Tulsa Community College Alumni and Friends Association, this year’s presenting sponsor for the Best of TCC was Southern Nazarene University Tulsa.
TASM Experiences ‘Danger Zone’
The Tulsa Air and Space Museum held its annual fundraiser on April 29 at the Sherman and Ellie Smith Hangar One, the new museum facility located at 3624 N. 74th E. Ave. This year’s theme was Top Gun and to “Join the Tulsa Air and Space Museum for a Ride into The Danger Zone.” Event guests were given a tour and preview showing at the new Planetarium and Esky Theater. Also provided were entertainment and music, appetizers, dinner and desert, and silent and live auctions.
Debbie Dill is Remembered
Tulsa public relations and marketing executive Debra Renee Dill, owner of the “What’s the Dill” agency, passed away on April 7.
Known by her friends and family as Debbie, Dill was born August 18,1957 in Eureka, Kan., graduated from Tulsa’s East Central High School in 1975 and attended Oklahoma State University where she studied marketing.
FlutterbyNight: ZooFari Gets a Butterfly Flair
This spring brings “Flutterby Night” at the Tulsa Zoo. SemGroup presents the 14th Annual ZooFari, an after-hours zoo event for the entire family on Friday, May 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
ZooFari offers parents, grandparents and children the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful spring evening at the zoo. It’s an event that’s sure to please the young and young at heart!
Kevin Wright Plans to Keep Tradition
Kevin Wright is already busy at his new school. The former head football coach for the nationally ranked Indianapolis, Ind., Warren Central High School Warriors met with the media at the UMAC on March 14 and said he wants to continue the winning ways of the nationally prominent Union football program. He also mentioned that he has met with the players, and he has already set academic and athletic standards, including 6:30 a.m. workouts.
